About

Lisa Van Quickelberghe (born 1987 in Zottegem) is an Antwerp-based artist whose work is deeply personal and intuitive. She endeavors to encapsulate the high intensity of emotions experienced in her personal relationships through a visual language. The figures she depicts are usually individuals from her close circle. Her inspiration is drawn from a wide array of sources: found objects, newspaper clippings, the animal kingdom, abandoned books, memories, and so on. She is predominantly guided by intuition and the emotions present at the moment. Only in retrospect does the final image reveal its meaning. It seems as though the image seeks to convey something to her, rather than the other way around. For Lisa, creating is a means to decipher her own inner world.
